The latest on Presley's surgery...

Well, we have the latest on Presley's surgery. As I said in the previous update, a change in the heart valve that is in need of repair was the reason for postponing. However, cultures are not indicating an infection but the cardiologists feel that there definitely was one and treatment must be administered. This treatment is 4 to 6 weeks of antibiotics. It is the hopes that this treatment will resolve this change on her valve, making it viable to stitch on for her surgery. Please pray that this happens. So, yes, this means a likely hospital stay for another 2 months. We could go home but there would be some home-health care involved in that transition as well as a g-tube or some form of feeding tube. There are also some insurance/financial issues that have to be considered but I won't bore you with those details. So at this point it looks as if we will be staying put at the hospital.
Presley was moved out of the PICU and onto a pediatric floor on Saturday. She has already had several occupational therapy visits and starts physical therapy on Monday. We are working on her nippling in the hopes that she won't create an aversion to this process and can be successful at taking the bottle post op, if not sooner.
There has been so much going on in the last few days but it has been glorious to be with her so much. I just love it and I know she loves having mommy around all day. I feel it is imperative that I am there most of the day as she is getting so much therapy and I want to learn all that I can. It is going to be very difficult balancing home and hospital for this long but we are just trying to focused on the pay off, a healthy little girl to bring home and finally be a family.
Mike brought the kids up to the hospital yesterday and as Mikah and Jett were running around the room and excited by seeing Presley, Mike said "Do you realize this is the first time our entire family has been together?" It was a special moment, and a short moment at that as Jett starting pulling on hospital equipment, LOL!
Mikah and Jett loved seeing Pres and I could tell Presley didn't know what to think of the mayhem....'get used to it little girly'!
Thank you all for caring and please keep our family in your prayers as this will be a difficult time for all of us. But most importantly, please continue to pray for our precious Pres, please.
