The gift of each other

When I found out I was pregnant for a third time, I really hoped for a girl. I wanted so badly to give Mikah a sister. Since Presley was born, I have often thought about their relationship, and wondered if she and Presley would have the type of 'sisterhood' that my sisters and I had, or if Presley's delays would not make that possible. I actually have tears running down my face as I write this, some of them being tears of sadness and shame for having thought that, but most of them are happy tears, knowing how wrong I was.
I don't know how much Mikah and Presley's relationship will emulate the one I have had with my sisters, but what I do know, is Mikah and Presley will forever adore one another... just as I had hoped.
I think Presley is happiest when Mikah is close by, she literally lights up when Mikah comes near her, and she will crawl the entire length of the house in search of her if she has left the room. And when I watch Mikah with Presley, I am always genuinely moved. I especially like to watch her when she doesn't know I am looking, I will see her stroke Presley sweetly, or kiss her, or try to teach her something, or just talk to her in the gentle way that she does... it is in those times that I always have the same thought... perhaps the Lord didn't choose Mike and I for Presley at all, perhaps it was always Mikah that He had in mind. Whatever the case is, I have no doubt the Lord bestowed something beautiful to each of them, when He gave each of them the gift of the other.
