Who'du thunk...

That reading the directions to a pre made, ready to assemble and decorate, Gingerbread House, would be important??......well, it is!!
Mikah has been dying to put together the Gingerbread House we bought, so, this morning I get her and Jett at the table, with bowls of candy in front of them, ready to start the decorating. However, once I open the box, mix the icing and assemble the house, I read that it needs to sit for an hour before we start decorating!?!?!?!
Well, it goes without saying that wasn't going to happen at this point and I had no choice but to let them start decorating (well, Mikah decorating and Jett eating) and it doesn't take long for the importance of the directions to become clear, as we watch our Gingerbread House start to cave in...LOL!
Needless to say, a little more icing, quiet the mess and Daddy laughing on the sidelines, we managed, and our house was complete.
And even though our's doesn't look like the one on the box, Mikah said she thought it was 'GORGEOUS!'
Aaahhh, to be three, where all is beautiful!!

Can you see where the three year old eyes would be needed ...

I'm with Mikah! We've done several in the past and they never looked like the box. Beauty in the the eyes of a child! Love the scrapbook pic. It blesses my heart when I see your family pic and everyone is smiling. I love it. It makes my heart warm! Love you all

It is beautiful and they will remember it. My son and I did one of these two years ago at grandma's house and he STILL talks about it. The decorating went something like this... One for me, one for the house, two for me, two for the house, a handful for me, one for the house... LOL. I love the drunk on sugar shot! PRICELESS!!

Kele, hate to tell you this. Very funny. Your "favorite" lady on The View, Elizabeth (the very conservative one) told a story on the show this morning and the EXACT same thing happened to her and her 3 year old this weekend! Evidently you moms need to pay attention to the instructions. :)

Also, she showed a picture on the show and I am not being biased here when I say that Mikah's is 10,000 times more beautiful!! Of course.

I almost bought a kit, but decided to just do the graham cracker route this year. Was it easy to put together? We actually decorated ours tonight. I will post the pictures later this week.

My family totally understands! Last year Kaden made one. Like we had anything else to do with absolutely no power for 11, yes 11 days. All thanks to a good old fashioned Oklahoma Ice Storm. Ours caved in a little to. But it survived all year and is up and on display again this year!
Cherish the memories!
